For more than 150 years, the University of Kentucky has relied on the generous support of its community. Starting with donations from 150 Central Kentucky farmers and townspeople, UK established its campus in Lexington and has grown into the Commonwealth’s flagship university, offering an exception land-grant education and strengthening the state through its research, service and creative pursuits.
Now, a select group of alumni, friends, foundations, corporations and organizations are continuing the founders’ legacy. The UK Fellows Society recognizes the outstanding contributions of UK’s greatest supporters. Created in 1966, the Fellows enrolled 41 new members and raised $2.5 million in its first few years, and its membership and momentum continues to grow. Every year, new Fellows enhance the opportunities on campus for UK students, improving its academics, programs, research, creative endeavors and service offerings.
Fellows are recognized at different levels based on their cumulative giving and pledges to any area of the university. Their membership qualifies them for special perks, including access to special events. A list of recognition levels is below.
