April 10, 2024 Women and Philanthropy Grant Recipient Reception www.ukalumni.net/WPRecipient

Join Women and Philanthropy for this year's Grant Recipient Reception to learn the impact of grants awarded in 2022. During this year's reception we will have engagement zones from each of the five recipients allowing attendees to engage and interact to learn more about how each has utilized the grant.

Grant funds were awarded to support proposals focused on:

  • Pediatric and Public Health Dentistry Outreach in Underserved Eastern and Central Kentucky Communities
  • Scholarship Program for Appalachian Career Training In Oncology (ACTION) Students
  • Advance Kentucky Rural Health & Wellness
  • Educating Future Farmers
  • Helping students acclimate to the University

Speak directly with grant recipients, students and community leaders to see the impact donor generosity has had this past year, from providing rural dental care to training future oncology nurses to guiding high school students' career paths through agricultural experiences. Join us in celebrating these successes and inspiring greater philanthropy and engagement in the years ahead!

April 18, 2024: One Day for UK (all day)

For 24 hours on April 18, 2024, University of Kentucky alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends will support their favorite college, program or cause through One Day for UK—the University’s annual giving day.

From the beginning, UK has pioneered new ways to carry out its mission and ensure brighter futures in our state and beyond. And one thing has always been true: when UK alumni, faculty, staff, students, and supporters lift together, we can achieve anything.

On One Day for UK, join in the fun and make a gift that will help us build upon our momentum and ensure our promise to be the University for Kentucky.

April 18, 2024: The Monsters and Myths of Substance Abuse (3:00 p.m.)

The Gaines Center for the Humanities student fellows would like to invite you to a private showing of an interdisciplinary exhibition titled "The Myths & Monsters of Substance Abuse." The viewing will take place on Thursday, April 18, at 3:00 pm and will be hosted by the junior fellows cohort. This showcase includes 20+ works that include paintings, 3D sculptures, documentaries, research posters, and more.

The goal of this exhibit is to feature artists, researchers, community members and advocates who have a relationship with addiction to create an immersive, educational experience for our community. The Gaines Center hopes to facilitate discussion on addiction in a way that shifts negative stigmas to a more compassionate and holistic perspective.

This viewing will take place at the UK Gaines Center Commonwealth House, 226 E Maxwell St, Lexington, Kentucky. We sincerely hope you can make it.

Please RSVP to Catherine Brereton at catherine.brereton@uky.edu by Monday, April 8.
